三酸化クロム（CrO3）の粉末にエタノールをかけると、炎を上げて燃えます。CrO3が酸素の供給源になるため、酸素が存在しない場所でも燃えるらしいです。
エタノールをニクロム酸カリウム（K2Cr2O7)で酸化するとアセトアルデヒドになるという反応は高校でもやりますが、薬品を間違えると大変なことになるってことですね。
